Award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Research Societies

The Award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Research Societies was introduced by the National Council of Student Research Societies in order to acknowledge colleagues who help to organise students’ scholarly and artistic activities in higher education institutions. The prize is presented annually and the Executive Board of the Council votes on the nominees in a secret ballot. Within two consecutive years, the number of recipients cannot be more than 16 in total.

The Award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Research Societies is open to those working in higher education who coordinate the operation of Student Research Societies and are responsible for related administrative matters – such as the chairpersons and secretaries of Student Research Societies at department, faculty or institutional level. They can be awarded the prize if their work proves to be highly effective at regional and/or national level, especially in the fields of:

  • organising and documenting institutional Student Research conferences
  • encouraging supervisors and students to join Student Research Societies
  • functioning as an executive president or secretary at the biennial National Conference.

Selection criteria and process: nominators include

  • the members of Chief Executive Board (President and Vice Presidents, Secretary of the Council)
  • the Secretariat of the Council

Nominations are considered by the Chief Executive Board of the Council and submitted for final decision to its Executive Board. Only nominees supported by the majority of the Chief Executive Board can be shortlisted for consideration by the Executive Board. The Executive Board votes on nominees by secret ballot, taking into consideration the overall number of awards to be given over the 2-year period.

The prize is a silver badge depicting an owl, the symbol of the Council, with a central inscription “Országos Tudományos Diákköri Tanács” (Hungarian for OTDT) and the engraving “Kiváló Szervező” (“Excellent Organiser”) running around the image.

The Prize is authenticated and comes with a certificate signed by the President of the Council.
